SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - As Sherman prepares for growth, they’re unlocking their potential - one key at a time.
A dual-branded hotel featuring Spring Hill and Townplace Suites will bring extended and temporary stays to South Sherman as new industry creates demand for more hotel rooms.
The hotel will include over 230 rooms, making it one of the largest in Sherman, and will also feature a 4,000 square foot conference space.
“This was clearly something that the city wanted to prioritize, and we certainly have done that,” Strauch said.
The hotel is slated to be part of the ongoing Crossroads development, off FM-1417 and US-75.
“With [Texas Instruments] and GlobalWafers being located within a mile of that location, it’s very clear why one would want to choose that spot,” Strauch said. “The crossroads development on the south side of town off of 1417 is really blowing up in the last couple of years.”
Construction crews are currently moving dirt at the site of the new Marriott, which is set to be surrounded by restaurants, future retail and grocery with H-E-B, with said industry located nearby.

The hotel will address a shortage of quality hospitality accommodations in that area of Sherman.
“It really add a lot to that area and really brings something to that part of town that we don’t have a lot of great options,” Strauch said. “To be able to add an amenity like the Spring Hill Suites, that will be good for that whole area of the city.”
The new hotel will also generate additional hotel-motel tax revenue for the city. Strauch noted that Sherman uses these taxes to fund programs like the Hot Summer Nights concert series.
“Our Hot Summer Nights concert series is paid for all through hotel motel taxes,” he said. “To have more hotels and newer hotels will only help to fund that and make sure that we can continue providing at the same level that people are used to.”
Developer TEKMAK told KXII 12 they are excited to get started, and make their mark on Sherman.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for March 2.
