Developers in Irving have received approvals for a new mixed-use project in Las Colinas.
The 5.3-acre development will be on a vacant corner at North O’Connor and Las Colinas boulevards near the new Toyota Music Factory retail and performance venue.
Irving’s city council has approved construction of the project, which will include two high-rise hotels plus an office building.
Arlington-based Type Six Development is working with the property owner, an affiliate of Dallas’ State Bank of Texas, on the project.
Plans include a 10-story, 248-room hotel and a 9-story 225-room hotel. There’s also a four-story office building and parking garage.
“We’re in the process of negotiating final contracts with the owner,” said Type Six Development’s representative. “In some of the initial discussions they spoke about beginning construction second quarter next year.”
The planned high-rise development is on a prominent corner in Las Colinas’ Urban Center. It’s also a block away from the community’s centerpiece Towers at Williams Square office tower complex, which is getting a major makeover.
The development site is across the street from the new Gables Water Street, a popular restaurant and shopping destination that includes luxury apartment homes.
The Music Factory, Irving Convention Center and new Westin convention hotel are just down Las Colinas Boulevard.
