Irving Approves Building Zoning

THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS

By Steve Brown The Irving City Council has given the go-ahead for two new corporate headquarters buildings in Las Colinas. Two planned buildings on O’Connor Boulevard near State Highway 114 will house offices for Christus Health System and State Bank of Texas.

- Christus Health, an international medical firm already based in Irving, would occupy a 15-story, 400,000-square-foot office building. (Designed by BOKA Powell) - A nearby four-story building with 47,250 square feet of space would house the offices of State Bank of Texas. (Designed by Type Six Design & Development) “I’m very excited for this new opportunity for our family to bring our national headquarters for our bank to Irving and in conjunction with Fidelis Realty to bring the national headquarters of a very large medical organization to Irving,” said Sushil Patel, president of State Bank of Texas. The independent bank is now based in North Dallas and owns the just-approved office site in Irving. The more than 5-acre corner site in the Las Colinas Urban Center was previously zoned for construction of two hotels. The council voted unanimously for the zoning change. “That’s really the gateway into the urban center,” said Irving city councilman Al Zapanta. "Changing from hotel to office buildings is very important. “We haven’t had office buildings in quite a while.” Two office buildings and a parking garage are planned on the 5-acre site.
