NATIONAL REPORT—Development activity is on the rise in both Texas and California. In North Houston, along a San Antonio boardwalk and in a southern Silicone Valley neighborhood, here’s some hotel projects in the works:

Construction has begun for Hyatt House Metropark Shenandoah/The Woodlands. The extended-stay hotel is located at the Metropark Square mixed-use development in Shenandoah, TX. The 5-story, 148-room hotel is slated to open in November 2020. The hotel developer is Sam Moon Group; contractor is VCC and architect is Type Six. The senior lender for the project is Veritex Community Bank and Bedrock Group raised EB-5 Funds for the construction of the Hyatt House Metropark Shenandoah/The Woodlands. Joining a slate of restaurant, retail and entertainment offerings, Hyatt House Metropark Shenandoah/The Woodlands will have residentially inspired studios, one- and two- bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate living guestrooms, a fitness room, pool and food and beverage options.
Harris Bay Reveals Opportunity Zone Boutique Riverwalk Hotel Investment
Harris Bay has revealed the Artista Hotel, a lifestyle and art-centric boutique hotel along the San Antonio Riverwalk. The hotel site was purchased in late April and will be transformed into a new 112-room boutique hotel with a focus on celebrating the contributions of the creative community. The hotel will have artisan crafted pieces like furniture, ceramics, murals, audio and visual displays. Creo, a San Antonio based architectural firm, will be the lead designer on the project and will be exploring design and program features including bunkrooms replacing some of the traditional suites.
